These are the following types of floors;

Porous - requires sealing
Cork, Wood, Terracotta and Limestone.

Semi Porous - may not need sealing but require polishing
Linoleum, Rubber, Terrazzo, Thermoplastic, Vinyl, Untreated Slate and Safety Flooring.

Non Porous - may not need sealing but require polishing
Amtico, Karndean, Ceramic Tiles, Granite, Marble, Quarry Tiles, Resin & Polyester and Laminate.

The Whole Process Is Using Water - Therefore No Dust
There is only one professional way to restore marble floors, so please don't be fooled if another company recommends using a chemical hardener. The whole surface needs to be carefully ground down to remove any light scratches or surface stains. By removing the surface scratches, light will naturally reflect off the smooth surface. To carry out this process we use a variety grade of diamond abrasive pads and finish with a fine grit diamond pad to create the shine. Some floor companies will use a chemical hardener. these products will work in the short term but will then peel and then your floor will look like it did before.

Why Should I Seal My Stone Floor
Any natural stone can stain easily should anything be spilled directly on to it. By sealing your stone floor correctly, you will have the peace of mind that should any spills occur, you will have time to blot the liquid up before it damages the surface. You must act quickly. Even non porous stone like Marble and Granite should be sealed. When your floor is professionally sealed, this should then protect your floor at least 5 years, depending on foot traffic.

Is My Stone Floor Sealed?
A very simple and easy test to carry out. Drop a small quantity of water onto the stone, level out using your finger and then watch the water. Should the water begin to absorb, then your floor needs sealing. Should the water sit on the top in circular shapes, then good news, your floor is sealed.

Impregnator Stone Sealers
Impregnator sealers are fantastic at penetrating stone or grout, they are designed to deposit protective particles deep in to the stone or grout. This process then provides excellent protection against water or oil stains. Impregnators again are either solvent or water based. Water base will repel fruit drinks, coffee, teas, water based drinks etc. Oil based will repel cooking oil, grease, oils etc. Tiles and grout are typically sealed with a clear natural impregnator which allows the stone to breathe. An impregnator will not produce a gloss finish on marble, travertine, limestone and granite. If a gloss finish is required then a final polish type process needs to be carried out.

Why Should Stone Floors Be Cleaned?
All stone floors after time, will attract dirt, dust and soil residues. The pores in the stone will soon become soiled if there's no seal present. Should a sealer be installed on to a unclean stone, a milky residue will most likely appear which will be trapped under the seal and above the stone. Should this happen, there's only one solution which is strip off the seal, deep clean the stone and then seal again with an Impregnator.

Following our initial survey and risk assessment we shall suggest the best method to clean your hard floors and advise on a maintenance plan. At the survey stage we then have the ability to advise on any safety and potential danger issues regarding polished, high gloss floors. Depending on the amount of soiling our cleaning system is carried out using a variety of mechanical machines which can clean, scrub, sand, strip, seal and polish.

Floor Preparation - The start of the non sanding process begins by carefully sweeping your floor and then using a powerful vacuum to remove any remaining dirt or soil. This stage is very important.

Deep Scrub & Clean - Next we must clean the floor with a suitable product using a low speed mechanical rotary machine and provide a key for the following steps. All edges and hard to reach areas need to be hand treated with special abrasive pads. Our specialist cleaning solution is used which cleans and slightly etch's the surface of the old floor finish so that the protective finish coats can grip.

Gloss Finish - Finally the top coats which will give your wooden floor the perfect shine. Typically we will use 2 coats and in some circumstances 3 coats. Each coat requires between 15-30 minutes to dry before next application, after the final polish coat the floor only needs 1 hour before any light use.

Our Deep Scrub Clean & Polish method is a great way to revive old tired, dull looking Parquet floors or any other type of wooden floor. The ultra modern polish we install, offers gloss, ultimate durability, and the perfect base to clean, protect and prolong the life of a floor. When finished the floor dries to an outstanding wet look finish, with excellent slip resistance.
