Cleaning Tips

Stainless steel - avoid water and use a specialist stainless steel cleaner sold at most supermarkets and household retailers.

Tile grout & mould - use bleech diluted or neat to clean and remove mould. Use a grout pen to bring back the colour. Buy these on ebay to save money.

Paint on the floor - always use whitespirit or turps and wipe off. Instead of using gloss on woodwork, use egg shell to get a better finish and easier to clean off the floor.

Marks on the painted wall - try hairspray, better still paint with soft sheen and hairspray will remove nearly all marks with ease.

Energy Saving Tips

Low voltage, energy saving bulbs can save you £10 per year per bulb. Most are not suitable for dimmers.

LED bulbs for downlighters, you make huge savings with these bulbs. A 4 watt LED is approximate equivalent to a 30 watt normal MR16/ GU10 bulb.

Too warm? Why not turn the room thermostat down by 1°C and it could cut your heating bills by up to 10%.

Buy reflective foil paper from any of the big DIY stores. Fit this to the back of your radiator, the heat will then bounce back in to the room and not be lost through any walls. This is especially useful when a radiator is fixed to an exterior non cavity wall.
